Emily Mudford Biography

She was born on 17 December 1900 in The Kennels, Stratton on the Fosse, Somerset, England. Father’s name on birth certificate is given as Joseph Mudford, a deceased Farm Labourer. Her mother was Mary Jane Mudford formerly Hillier. She registered the birth by making her mark on 9 February 1901. Emily was baptised on 12 June 1902, where her mother's abode is the Union Workhouse.

She died on 13 September 1984 in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England, and was buried in Broadway Churchyard, Worcestershire.

In the 1939 Register, she was a General Domestic Servant in the Benson Household in Rings, Herringston Road, Dorchester, Dorset. Marguerite Benson was a retired Bank Clerk, Dorothy Benson, a retired teacher. Hilda Rice was a private Governess,and John Simpson, a nine year old.

In the 1921 Census Emily was in Warmell, Dorchester

The 1911 Census has Emily, along with brother Edwin (Edward Short) resident in the Shepton Mallet Workhouse as inmates.
