John William Francis Mudford Biography
John William Francis Mudford was born 17 November 1929 in Barry, Glamorgan, Wales. He was the spit image of his father. When I was younger, I wondered why Gran had a photo of Uncle John on her wall rather than any of her other sons. It turned out to be my Grandfather Tom who I never knew. He died before I was born.He married Anne Hartland (born 7 February 1931) in St. Pauls Church, Barry, Glamorgan, Wales on 5 March 1955.
He died on 25 February 2020 in Llandough Hospital, Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan. His obituary read: "Peacefully after a short illness at Llandough Hospital on 25th February 2020. John aged 90 years, beloved husband of the late Anne, much loved Dad and Father in law to Irene and Michael, a loved Gramps of Gareth, Rhiannon, Bethan, Aled and Cerys, also loved by Great Grandchildren Eva, Ethan, Robyn, Rhys, Anwen and Llewelyn. John will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. Resting at A G Adams Funeralcare until the service at Cardiff & Glamorgan Crematorium on Wednesday 18th March at 11am. Family flowers only, donations in lieu if so desired for Help for Heroes c/o the Funeral Director.
John Mudford worked for BP Chemicals in Barry all his working life and was an active union member, shop steward and union official. He and Anne had one daughter Irene (born 18 July 1957 in Barry, Glamorgan, Wales), who married Mike Owens (born 20 August 1951), a postman on 25 March 1978 in Windsor Road Reformed Church, Barry, Glamorgan, Wales. They had 6 children. Sadly, the second born son died aged one.
