The XVII Commonwealth Games Manchester 2002

The XVII Commonwealth Games was a world-class event and the most significant multi-sport event to be held in this country since the Olympics of 1948. It was the largest ever Commonwealth Games with athletes of the highest quality from 72 nations competing for Gold in 14 individual sports and three team sports from 25 July – 4 August 2002.

Alongside a celebration of sporting excellence, the Games provided the opportunity to celebrate multicultural, modern Britain at the start of the new millennium.

As one of the 10,000 members of Crew 2002, the volunteers for the Games, I thought I would have part of my website be a reminder of the great time I had during the Games.
